New Year’s Goal? Be Selfish

preparing for baby means making many goals; ensuring your well being isn't selfish, it's essential

The phrase new year, new you seems to be overabundant this time of year as we pull down the old calendar and put up bright, shiny new blank boxes.

Most of the time, the resolutions that are hard to stick with past January’s optimism revolve around change. So many of us decide to kick a bad habit, get healthier, work on mindfulness, and make investments in rediscovery or growth.

If you’re welcoming a baby, or moving through the first year of your new child’s life, it may be hard to focus on anything else!

For New Year’s resolutions, we ask you to focus on yourself.

Be selfish.

Put aside investment, time and mindfulness on your OWN needs, alongside the immediate preparations for your baby.

Highlight the ways you’ll take care of yourself, whether you’re three months into a sleepless stage with your newborn, or beginning to plan for your ideal birth support.

One of the healthiest ways to move into the year is to put yourself first, and think about how you can achieve a happier and healthier day to day.

For some, that means ensuring a supported birth experience, with team members assisting you and your partner during labor at home and at the birth location you chose.

For others, that means recognizing that asking for help with organization, baby care and getting at least one to two rested nights’ sleep after baby arrives.

Whatever you are looking forward to in 2019, we’re excited for you and can’t wait to help make it an eventful year that fills your soul, arms and hearts.
