Giving Birth This Halloween? Grab A Snickers

snickers in labor is a great snack for preparing to give birth. A labor doula can support you in Maryland!

You might be trying hard to resist that Halloween candy to stay fit before welcoming baby, or maybe you’re not resisting at all!

Lose the guilt!

When you begin early labor, nourishing your body is a wonderful first start to begin fueling for the changes in your body as well as stocking energy stores for the work that is to come.

Nothing is better for your body at giving you a large caloric and sugar package than a full size candy bar!

I often tell laboring clients to keep one on hand for when their labor begins, to eat either as they prepare to give their body nourishment, or on the way to their birth location for some quick energy that won’t sit heavily in their stomach.

Candy bars usually contain a good amount of sugar, at least 200 calories, and most - like Snickers, my personal favorite - have a good amount of peanuts, peanut butter, and a chocolate coating that come in handy as the body is absorbing smaller quantities of food.

When you’re grabbing those minis this Halloween, throw a full size into your cart for the labor bag!
