How To Get The Most Out of Maternity Photos
1. Time It Right
We recommend planning on getting pictures at the start of your third trimester, when there’s enough bump to cradle, but you’re not worried about those extra pounds the camera will pack on. You’ll probably also feel the most comfortable in your own skin, so if you plan on doing more baring shots, you’ll look comfortable on camera.
2. Consider A Photographer’s Gown
Many maternity photographers have flattering gown selections that are specially draped for maternity sessions.
3. Use Color
Consider color palettes that flatter you, rather than your favorite colors. Deep colors are usually better than pastels or brights.
4. Plan On Hair & Makeup
If you’re set on a particular shot, or just are too tired to do it yourself, hire out for hair and makeup. Most photographers have a set list of their favorite artists on hand who can make you glow - and still look yourself.
5. Pick A Comfortable Environment
Think those sub zero snowy pics are stunning? They might be - but they’re sure as hell not comfortable. Think about where you’ll be the most comfortable - an indoor session might suit you better, if you’re one with the sand, the beach might make you the most relaxed - when planning your session.
