What Should Baby Wear To Sleep?

resist the temptation to load your baby with layers to sleep in the winter!

Is he too hot? Too cold?

He can’t talk…so how will I know??

The debate about what to place baby in for a night of sleep can keep you awake at night yourself - which is the opposite of a full nights’ rest for all in the family!

Now that the seasons are changing, it can be tempting to pile on the fleece and add in a blanket, but resist these urges.

Babies are warmer when they sleep, and can regulate their body temperatures less efficiently, but can also easily overheat.

As it gets cooler, consider adding footed pjs for baby, or a longer onesie and a sleep sack swaddle that conserves heat better.

Basically, anything that is one layer warmer than you’re comfortable with yourself is what’s best for your new baby.

Also consider adjusting your thermostat as needed to compensate for any extra chill that creeps through the insulation in your room or baby’s.

And remember - never, ever, place loose blankets - no matter how thin - in or around the sleeping environment you have chosen for your baby.

With a little extra snuggle softness, everyone will adjust to the cooling weather and we’ll be back into restful sleep in no time!
